Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey, also known as Outside Legend – The Endless Odyssey, is a dark sci-fi anime based on the works of Leiji Matsumoto. The story follows the legendary space pirate Captain Herlock and the crew of the Arcadia as they reunite to battle the mysterious alien force known as Noo after an ancient evil is awakened. Unlike the classic adventurous tone of earlier Herlock series, this OVA focuses more on mystery, philosophy, loneliness, and the struggle for freedom across space. The series was directed by Rintaro and produced by Madhouse. It originally released between 2002 and 2003 as a 13-episode OVA series.
